MassEffect/PacificRim Mashup Jaegers by rs2studios MassEffect/PacificRim Mashup Jaegers by rs2studios
Still on my Pacific Rim & Mass Effect obsession and based on the idea that the Citadel Council heeded Shepard's warning after ME2 and spent the next three years building a plan (Jaegers) and we saw how effective something of the same scale is against the Reapers ie. the Thresher Maw) to fight the reapers. Each council race would have their own Jaegers, so introducing Earth's Systems Alliance's N7 Jaeger Normandy Omega, the Asari Republic's Destiny's Embrace and Turian Hierarchy's Digeris Theta. Coming soon will be a Jaegers for the Salarian Union, Krogans, and the Quarian Flotilla and maybe even an evil Cerebus Jaeger too if I have time etc. This will be fun! Stay tuned.

Just how big are Jaegers? 300ft? A Destroyer is ~500 ft while a Sovereign class is ~6500 ft.
To put into perspective: postimg.org/image/ev7nwp4tb/fu…      They'll still stand no chance.

Thanks for your perspective, well yea no chance if your basing it on the size of the Jaegers in Pacific Rim, but this would be technology garnered from the Human/Reaper larva Hybrid from the collector base which is as big or if ever finished could've been bigger than a destroyer based on this size chart euderion.deviantart.com/art/Ma…, so saying an ME universe Jaeger being that big would not be unheard of. Also correct me if I'm wrong Destroyers on the ground basically have one forward mounted main weapon so an ME Jaeger would just have to out maneuver a destroyer and get behind it and basically bash or unleash it's heavy weapons into it's rear or simply take out a leg, which would give ground forces a fighting chance. However a sovereign class on the ground drop those odds dramatically as well. Just my take on it.

Destroyers are made to take down enemies its size anyways. I guess a bigger jaeger would win against a single destroyer. Normal jaegers wouldn't though. A sovereign class on the other hand will easily destroy a destroyer in one shot or even with a stomp. And there are literally tens if not hundreds of thousands of just the sovereign class. A new one is created with every cycle of ~50,000 years and they've been doing it for ages. In an all out war, even bigger versions of Jaegers would be useless.

Thanks! Yea I initially wanted an earth screenshot and narrowed it down to Vancouver or London, but the screenshot of the citadel seemed more epic, and fitting for my flagship ME Jaeger. =)

Very cool! I'd suggest making the krogan Jaeger themed similarly to the Blood Pack, that sort of assembled-out-of-junk look that you get from their weapons.

Sorry to burst everyone's love of this giant mech thing, but a Reaper's thanix cannon would melt through the armor of one of those mechs in the first shot. Unless they managed to reverse engineer Reaper shield technology, that was the major reason Allied ships were lost in such great number. Reapers were slow at sub-luminal speeds, but they could fire from a ridiculous range. They also had massive element zero cores which gave them the ability to land on planets. The Normandy SR2 had trouble landing on most planets. Those mechs look larger then dreadnoughts...

Anywho, sorry for being an asshole nerd. :(

You realize that thanix cannons are a Turian weapon, right? The Reapers don't use Thanix cannons.

The thanix cannon was a minaturized version of the Reaper's weapon. Those 'lasers' the reapers fire are actually molten metal fired at hypervelocity.

Yes, but that still doesn't mean the Reapers use thanix cannons. The Turians adapted the thanix cannon from Sovereign's remains, but they are not identical. The thanix cannon works differently and has different functions than the Reaper weapons, and they are much less powerful. The thanix cannon emits molten metal that quickly hardens into a massive projectile, meanwhile the Reaper's magnetohydrodynamic cannons shoot a sustained stream of molten metal that completely tears through an enemy ship and is especially efficient at going through kinetic shields. Because the thanix cannon can only make reliable shots every five seconds or so, it is less powerful than the Reaper weapons due to their ability to make sustained bursts. You can best see these differences between the two guns during the start of the suicide mission.

Okay this was just for fun, born out of my love of Pacific Rim and Mass Effect, however as stated in the description the premise is based on the simple "idea" that the citadel council "heeded" Shepard's warning after the events of ME2. That means the council races didn't ignore the reaper threat they PREPARED for it. This meant utilizing tactical intelligence from a variety of sources ie sovereign debris, the derelict reaper, collector base, etc. That would include as you said reverse engineering Reaper shields but also weapons, tech and finding any weaknesses (It's in the tagline "to fight reapers ...we created reapers") IDBjoshm, read my mind the "jaeger" class would be the perfect counter to the Destoyer class reapers in ground based not space based combat, to help defend major population centers. The horrific losses all the races experienced in ME3 occurred because the council ignored all the warnings and the races, ships, weapons, tech, and strategies were ill prepared for the reaper threat and were thus routed, but even then even in the end.. united they put up a good fight.

No matter how prepared you are, the Allied races would NEVER be able to get the required element zero to create these machines. The element zero in the Normandy alone was enough for one million fighters as stated by Rear Admiral Mikhailovich in Mass Effect one. The amount for even the size of a destroyer would far exceed the amount the Allied forces would ever be able to mine in two years. Also, I don't see how you could destroy a Destroyer with one of these things. It took the entire quarian armada to destroy just one of them.

By the way, I think the idea and the mechs you designed are very badass, just not plausible. :)

Thanks. Your point eezo rarity and mining point is valid however preparation based on using reapers's own tech against them, basically building our own reapers is plausible , and they wouldnt require so much eezo because they are ground based combat and dont require FTL like the reapers who travel though space or a Tantalas class stealth drive like the normandy just enough power for speed, mobility, barriers and weapons (reaper based). Yes it took the Quarian fleet to destroy a one but with "Coventional" weapons, Quarian ships armed with thanix cannons and missiles would fare much better and Kalros defeated a destroyer by out manuvering a destroyer and crushing it. This is has been a fun fandom debate =)

Oh okay, if it was purely ground based, and only had enough to move around in it's own atmosphere without falling over, I could see it happening. I was always impressed with how Kalros destroyed the destroyer, but I couldn't think of a way the Allied forces could utilize that weakness. This was cool. :)

Correct me if i missed something but, I just noticed watching the Kalros youtube again, do the destoyers have any other long range weapon other than it's main gun? because that would make the rear very vulnerable to attack?

The Jaegers would be limited to fighting the Destroyers, not the Sovereign classes. Destroyers are lumbering idiots, and the advantages of the Jaegers would be maneuverability, and possibly just shoving its fist in that damn "HAL-eye" of the Destroyers. Jaegers would need to run fast against Sovereign classes. If the pilot is ballsy, jump on the Reapers back and just punch it into it can put a hole into the Reaper's hull. A better strategy would be to swarm massive reapers much like a Tarantula Hawk goes after Tarantulas. Much like Destroyers, Reapers are lumbering behemoths that rely far too much on their own firepower.
